2017 Winner of Robson-Scott Travelling Scholarship Announced

Tuesday 30 May 2017

Nicole Robertson is the winner of this year’s William Robson-Scott Travelling Scholarship. Nicole is in her second year of doctoral research at University College London, exploring the relationships that Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931) and his son/literary trustee, Heinrich (1902-1982) had with translators, agents, and institutions involved in disseminating the writer’s work in Britain over the course of the last century.

A major figure in European modernism, Arthur Schnitzler first came to international attention with his play Liebelei. His work continues to be translated, adapted and performed in Britain but, whereas monographs have addressed his position in Russia, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and France, relatively little has been written on his reception in this country. Nicole will be travelling to Vienna to consult the Schnitzler Nachlass, housed at the Theatermuseum.
