2015 William Robson-Scott Travelling Scholarship

Monday 1 June 2015

The Institute is delighted to announce that the winner of the 2015 William Robson-Scott Travelling Scholarship is Sharon Baker.

Mrs Baker is in her second year of research at the IMLR, working on Hans Sachs’s commentary on civic decline. The award will enable her to travel to Bavaria to consult original manuscripts and early printed sources only available in the public archives in Nuremberg and Bamberg.

In their adjudication the selection panel noted the record number of applications, as well as the quality of the applications received this year, and regretted that funds were only available to support one candidate.

Established in memory of Professor W.D. Robson-Scott, Honorary Director of the former Institute of Germanic Studies from 1968 to 1973, the scholarship is awarded by the IMLR in the spring of each year. The award is designed to assist research students registered for an MPhil/PhD or equivalent degree at a University in the United Kingdom to travel abroad to carry out research bearing on the languages and literatures of the German-speaking countries, the Netherlands, or Scandinavia.
