In connection with the OWRI AHRC-funded interdisciplinary project, the IMLR is now offering Visiting Fellowships in the field of languages and communities, as well as a Doctoral Studentship in the Culture of Latin American communities in the UK. The research will feed into the ‘Cross-Language Dynamics: Reshaping Community’ based at the IMLR.
One Fellowship is available annually up to and including 1919-20, and the scheme is open to candidates from the UK and overseas. Applications are invited from postdoctoral researchers wishing to undertake a period of research at the Institute in the area of languages and communities (past or present). Preference will be given to Western European languages (mainstream or minority) in their global contexts, and/or translingual practices. Funding is available to contribute to temporary living expenses.
One PhD studentship is available to candidates with a Master’s degree in Modern Languages who wish to pursue research into the culture of the Latin American communities in the UK, including London. The successful applicant will be registered at the IMLR and be supervised by the Institute’s Director, Professor Davies. Funding will comprise a fee waiver equating to the full-time Home/EU tuition fee, plus an annual maintenance grant of £15,000.
The closing date for both competitions is 31 March 2017.
