Sketching/Scripting Women: Women & Politics in 'Bande dessinée'

The primary goal of this seminar, as part of the Sketching/Scripting Women series, is to contribute to the development of research into female bande dessinée creation. This seminar will focus on ‘women and politics’, a theme that will be discussed by four speakers: three academics (Ann Miller, Edward Still, and Armelle Blin-Rolland), and a practitioner (graphic novelist Tanx).

17:00 Tanx on her Graphic Novels and Engravings 

Tanx will speak (in French) about her oeuvre, including her recent comic book Toutes les croûtes au coin des yeux. A member of the Collective of Female Comics Creators against Sexism, Tanx was the 2009 co-recipient (for Esthétique et filatures, co-authored with Lisa Mandel) of the Prix Artémisia, an award created to honour the best female-created bande dessinée published each year. Her other comic books include Rock Zombie! and Velue.
