Description

The DAAD-IMLR’s 7th German-Language Competition invited learners of German in the UK and Ireland to combine linguistic creativity with their thoughts and hopes for the future. Join us at this  event to celebrate all the splendid suggestions for new German words and announcement of the winning entries.

Friedrich Herrmann, poetry slammer and winner of the 2019 German national poetry championship, will present a new piece developed on the basis of the competition entries. Max Weber, graphic designer and illustrator, will give an insight into the creative process behind the design of the illustrated dictionary of winning entries.

The event will be introduced by Susanne Frane, Deputy Head of Culture and Education, at the German Embassy, and Ruth Krahe, Director of the DAAD London Branch. Godela Weiss-Sussex (IMLR) will bring the event to a close.

All are welcome to attend. Advance booking is required:  https://www.daad.de/surveys/951412?lang=en

Registration closes on 21 March 2021. The Webex link will be sent to those who have registered a few days before the event.

This competition is sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum London, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, London) the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Embassy of Switzerland, the Goethe Institute, London, and the Keith Spalding Trust of the Institute of Modern Languages Research, University of London.
